Callisto and Galaxy

Rug I won in a competition.

This is a really useful rug, so much so I have just ordered another two. It's lightweight so suits the stallion who can run about his field so can't wear a heavy rug in autumn.
They are sold by Elle Horse hoofware.

Guess which one we bred?

Clearing out the kitchen drawers prior to ripping the whole lot out I found some really old pics. This is of Narramore Roxanne who is now owned by someone in Dorset, here she was a 5 year old and just starting her career. She went on to do really well in H Trials and won the open Working Hunter class at Kingsbridge Show the following year.

This was a very long time ago, and I had just won a hard fought equitqtion class of 15 entries. Good job they didn't take the fit of the tack into consideration, look at that awful noseband!

We've moved fields!

Yesterday we moved them to the first of the hayfields, which is only grazed a few months a year and has lovely grass as a result. It wasn't quite so easy this time as normally either the brood mares are in with them and know the ropes, or an older mare leads the entire lot at a gallop to wherever I stand shouting. The old mare is no longer, and the mares are in another part of the farm, so it took a while for the geldings to realise my cry meant fresh grass.
After a false start they all came up from the deer park where most had been lying down, trotted through the smaller pen and galloped to where my husband was also shouting where they had to negotiate a tight right hand turn as the contractor was busy spraying that field and we didn't want them in there.
It was a sight to see, every single one did a handbrake turn, spun right handed and flew off into the new grazing bucking and leaping for joy..

Not very good focussed I'm afraid.

William

William has grown like a weed, but doesn't look as blooming in condition as his siblings. I think this is due to the trauma he underwent when ill, so this winter he will come inside every night and be fed, I think it's vital I keep a closer eye on him and give him an all round vit supplement as well as the best grub I can source.

Some of the herd coming over to say hello.
From the left, Callisto (2) behind is Solstice, then Oberon (2), Galaxy (2) and Orion, who is a retired chap and who seems to grow in confidence and sherr happinerss every time I see him. Considering he's older, he trots about looking happy, if horse's could grin, he would!

I am really pleased with this two year old, he looks to be just the right build and type to event. Makes me almost wish I could be bothered with the Futurity palaver, but the idea of dressing up in white is a no brainer... I reckon I'll just let their results sell them instead..

Isabella the orphan foal

Izzie is now three and growing fast, she has the sort of face that's pretty front on, not so sideways, but what a personality! Here she has spotted the car and is coming over to say hello, she adores attention and always greets us.
Her relation Jonty has been sold to a lovely Pony Club home and will be doing tethrathlon, this little filly looks as talented when we've seen her power over the stream in the Deer Park..

Galaxy

This is the filly out of Minstrel's full sister Harmony who was by our old ID stallion Ambertson.
She is by Chocolate so carries the bloodlines I wanted to produce nice easy to own talented horses.
She is a striking filly with unusual colouring and moves beautifully, like her sire.
I'm enjoying seeing her grow, and can't wait to see what she looks like when mature (she's two now)

Fickle creature

Marty the bay TB was the long time partner of one of the oldies pts a short while ago, as you can see he wasted no time in choosing the new "boss" of the herd, Dolly..His last girlfriend was the previous boss mare.
