riding the youngsters again.

Despite vowing never to get on a four year old again after smashing his heel last year my husband is back doing just that. This is a lovely little Welsh Cob mare who wasn't keen on standing still for a pic. as she was raring to go on a hack.

Diamond

After her long lay off whilst her entire hoof crack grew out she is now back in regular work. Seen here with a friend who was acting as escort for the just backed four year old , she spooked more than the baby horse...

Jonty, Estralita and Layla

We must waste so much hay..

Isabella

Does anyone remember the orphan foal we hand reared?
She's two this year and going through the ugly stage!

Jezebel

Who really has the wrong name altogether, she is the most obliging of horses!

The Stalker...

this is Rene who is adorable. He stalks you round the field and rests his head on your shoulder, this was taken over my shoulder as he rested his head..

William and Bonnie

William has forged a close friendship with Bonnie, a cob mare who is here for breaking, sad really as she goes home next week..

William

Who sleeps in the field too!

Camellia out in January? madness!

after seeing this today I went for a walk round the horses to see how they are faring in the warm but wet weather..
The following pics illustrate what they think..
Ignore the mud, the daft creatures have access to over 60 acres of dry grazing but prefer their special places, invariably the muddiest ones...

Marty and Jenny

All the horses get to the feeders at different times of the day, some like Marty are so bossy they have first choice.. He's a full Tb living out 24/7 without a rug, he thrives like this.. At times when it's raining you can see over twenty horses all feeding peaceably together in here.

Galaxy

Galaxy tucking into the haylage inside the main barn.
They do get grot stuck to them from lying in the hay and muck on the floor, (we scrape it out with a JCB) but when their coats come out in spring they have beautiful shiny hair underneath!

Jenny, like her sister Judym having a break from foaling this year

Naughty Pair!

Luna who is n't very old and Solstice a two year old saw my golden retriever and decided he would be great fun to chase..At this point it's a stand off, the dog's behind me and I'm shouting at them to go away!

Judy

Currently having a year off as a brood mare.

mare who has come here for a holiday

Look at her legs, she was playing for ages in the pond just standing there splashing away!

Spot the fox!

we disturbed one on our wanderings and he took a good minute to pose for me.

One of my favourite views from the Bluebell wood

Can you blame the new horses for dreaming away their time instead of eating with views like this?

Selwyn aged 25 and a friend Calypso

this is the botom shelter, we have to scrape the entrance a lot as it gets muddy but they have a nice windproof place undercover to eat.

two of the retired gang..

Some green coming ready for spring

the grass is already starting to grow here as you can see from the greening up of the Deer Park. In the middle of the picture is the bottom shelter, tucked away out of the wind.

Marilyn

Hoping against hope I would open the gate into the woods, but no chance, we have badger sets everywhere and it's too dangerous.

Marty, Belle and Marylin

All enjoying the warm sun today..

Luna

yes another one who prefers to wander round the mud rather than use the grass fields.. We don't normally get mud here but it's been so wet recently.

Dolly

this is one of the retired horses, why is it when they have at least 50 acres of good clean grassy pasture they choose to stand in the muddiest place on the whole farm?
She uses the bottom shelter a lot so doesn't need a rug.
