this is Rene who is adorable. He stalks you round the field and rests his head on your shoulder, this was taken over my shoulder as he rested his head..

after seeing this today I went for a walk round the horses to see how they are faring in the warm but wet weather..
The following pics illustrate what they think..
Ignore the mud, the daft creatures have access to over 60 acres of dry grazing but prefer their special places, invariably the muddiest ones...

Marty and Jenny

All the horses get to the feeders at different times of the day, some like Marty are so bossy they have first choice.. He's a full Tb living out 24/7 without a rug, he thrives like this.. At times when it's raining you can see over twenty horses all feeding peaceably together in here.

They do get grot stuck to them from lying in the hay and muck on the floor, (we scrape it out with a JCB) but when their coats come out in spring they have beautiful shiny hair underneath!

Luna who is n't very old and Solstice a two year old saw my golden retriever and decided he would be great fun to chase..At this point it's a stand off, the dog's behind me and I'm shouting at them to go away!

this is the botom shelter, we have to scrape the entrance a lot as it gets muddy but they have a nice windproof place undercover to eat.

the grass is already starting to grow here as you can see from the greening up of the Deer Park. In the middle of the picture is the bottom shelter, tucked away out of the wind.

yes another one who prefers to wander round the mud rather than use the grass fields.. We don't normally get mud here but it's been so wet recently.

this is one of the retired horses, why is it when they have at least 50 acres of good clean grassy pasture they choose to stand in the muddiest place on the whole farm?
She uses the bottom shelter a lot so doesn't need a rug.
