I planted around 10 trees here and on a grassy area along the drive, hoping to grow my own fruit. Last year the grubs got in them and they didn't grow big enough, this time I have banded them and hope for some fruit big enough to eat!
We have all these holes due to a species of bee that lives in the old cob wall.
Considering his dam was in really lousy condition he's gaining weight nicely, by the end of the summer he should be a round little foal.
This is actually the opposite side of the valley where we live, between us and there is a deep valley, fields then a road and river in the bottom. Sometimes you can hear traffic but rarely.
This little chap has arrived for ten days training to get him ready for his Inspection. He's been fun to say the least (a huge stallion in his head, so training him to lunge sensibly was exciting...very nice sort of Dartmoor I have to say)

At this point none of us thought he'd survive.
The clever moorhens make their nest right in the middle of the pond, the ducks start off with around 12 ducklings and if they are lucky end up with just two. There are many predators here, from nasty crows to stoats, so it's a huge achievement to even rear one..
just look at the partnership here, he's loving every minute of it and she looks utterly confident in her horse.. All the better then that they won their section of BE100.
