Chocolate does Elementary dressage
We've always felt Chocx was bored stiff with BE dressage so decided to try him last week in BD. He came second in his first ever Novice so this was his next go at Elementary 58. Not an easy one for a first go but blow me he won on 68.12 and even would have been on 70.12 had his daft rider not forgotten the test!So it looks like a go at BD dressage this year, not bad for an oldie of 18 changing career directions is he!!!!

We only put him is because he was such a prat in the Novice, and poor lad had never done walk pirouettes in his life! He tried his little heart out though and ended up second on a score of 65.31 which was good for a first go..

There were horses turned out right next to the arena whilst he was doing his test and they charged about which set him off a bit, but no excuse, a good horse should ignore any distractions.. he spooked a couple of times and shortened up too much as a result.

Jack in his XC brakes bit.
He is very like his grand dam in that once he locks on a fence, you have very little chance of stopping him.This is an American Gag only used on him for XC, it's very effective used like this.

Sooty and Mac bought me a Birthday Hat
And I was made to wear it round various places whilst it played Happy Birthday....... Here is Sooty and me in Dave and Steve's Studio teashop... (well Old Age Pensioners are supposed to do wild things aren't they, I might dye my hair purple to compliment the hat....)

Jacques' eventing season starts next week
He's raring to go, hopefully with better brakes this year!
New partnership..
Phil gave up riding for a while after his mare died, she was one of Chocolate's four year olds.The next youngster he likes is only a three year old so for now he's going to ride Chocx and have some fun doing Affilliated Dressage.
Chocx hasn't been ridden much over the winter and has lost his muscle, so this is a week into his training as a pair, this is a lesson with Sarah Cheetham which went very well. Their first outing is next Saturday, more a getting to know each other than a chance of a rosette I reckon!

Jacques 2009
He will be doing PN then Novice later this year, plus plenty of dressage.He's come a long way from that foal and scrawny looking two year old!
