William

William has grown like a weed, but doesn't look as blooming in condition as his siblings. I think this is due to the trauma he underwent when ill, so this winter he will come inside every night and be fed, I think it's vital I keep a closer eye on him and give him an all round vit supplement as well as the best grub I can source.

Some of the herd coming over to say hello.
From the left, Callisto (2) behind is Solstice, then Oberon (2), Galaxy (2) and Orion, who is a retired chap and who seems to grow in confidence and sherr happinerss every time I see him. Considering he's older, he trots about looking happy, if horse's could grin, he would!

I am really pleased with this two year old, he looks to be just the right build and type to event. Makes me almost wish I could be bothered with the Futurity palaver, but the idea of dressing up in white is a no brainer... I reckon I'll just let their results sell them instead..

Isabella the orphan foal

Izzie is now three and growing fast, she has the sort of face that's pretty front on, not so sideways, but what a personality! Here she has spotted the car and is coming over to say hello, she adores attention and always greets us.
Her relation Jonty has been sold to a lovely Pony Club home and will be doing tethrathlon, this little filly looks as talented when we've seen her power over the stream in the Deer Park..

Galaxy

This is the filly out of Minstrel's full sister Harmony who was by our old ID stallion Ambertson.
She is by Chocolate so carries the bloodlines I wanted to produce nice easy to own talented horses.
She is a striking filly with unusual colouring and moves beautifully, like her sire.
I'm enjoying seeing her grow, and can't wait to see what she looks like when mature (she's two now)

Fickle creature

Marty the bay TB was the long time partner of one of the oldies pts a short while ago, as you can see he wasted no time in choosing the new "boss" of the herd, Dolly..His last girlfriend was the previous boss mare.

Solstice

This three year old mare by Chocolate is a real character.
She is fascinated by cars and people, and immediately she spots either walks boldy up to investigate. now my method of stopping the horses eating my car is to use the windscreen washers, but she couldn't care less, in fat she pokes her nose in the spray!
She will be leaving us next Spring and I will miss her terribly, she's one of those horses who makes a big impression on you, and I envy the owner the future she will have, I bet she will be the most fantastic competition horse. (oh and I wish I hadn't sold her!!!!)

The thistles have gone mad this year, but the horses like nibbling the tops off them so we don't remove them completely.

two newbies

This pair have come for a few months' holiday whilst their owner recovers from an operation. They are slowly mixing in but as you can see, also keeping their distance.

Fighting to be boss

The herd heirarchy has changed with the death of two of the top ones, so there is some argy bargying going on. I think this pic demonstrates really well how some are submissive and others argue their way to the top.. The coloured mare used to be very low down the herd, now she's virtually the top after some years.

Why is he dressed up like that?

because we are about to lead the local carnival procession yet again! It takes place in narrow streets with balloon waving kids, this year three marching bands and two groups on trailers playing live, and numerous floats including a dancing cake...Even worse was a steam lorry which hissed and spat at you..
Chocx got a bit agitated half way through, not because of the crowds, but because he has to walk so slowly stopping every few yards whilst the walkers catch up.
It says something about his temperament that he copes with this doesn't it...

WI float

This was so funny, 8 middle aged to slightly older ladies from the local WI carrying the slices of cake, the cook dressed as Mrs Beeton blew her whistle and they all came together as a proper cake, sang Happy Birthday then danced off again. I helped lift all of them off when they stopped for a rest, how they carried them for almost an hour and a half I can't imagine..
