their grading, plaits removed and looking so happy to be scruffy again..

Why is it?

Just when you decide to sell a horse it gets something wrong with it? Her foal has managed to eat her tail, making her look a prize carthorse..her mane I admit was cut with a razor from two feet long for the plaiting needed to grade her, but I would have pulled it before advertising her. Now I reckon she will have to wait until spring when it grows again.. (cheap mare in foal to Chocx anyone, 16. 1 hh for £1000!)

Once upon a time

there was a bathroom that had a rather fetching sunset yellow suite, yucky wallpaper courtesy of the previous owners, and a nasty brown carpeted floor. (no pics, but use your imagination!)
Then we decided to go mad and have some fun items such as a remote controlled power shower, a funky basin and a tap that makes you want to play...

Almost finished..

We need to add skirting boards, patch the bit where the wall refused to hold the loo roll holder, and remove the spare radiator, but from what it was, it's getting there..

I love my new sink!

Leo

As you can see his bent legs are slowly straightening. Given 12 months there will be no sign at all I reckon.

Not out of the woods yet but she's home!

Jezz has at least made it back home. her white cell count is normal and now it's just hope that the infection doesn't return, she's on antibiotics for a while plus the vet is changing the dressing as you can see in the next pic, it's no easy task!
The bill from the clinic was £5200 odd , and there will also be the bill from our vets to pay.
We are looking at it as if we had to go out and buy a horse like her we would have paid that price, and trying not to think about the cost too much.
If she hadn't been such a special mare we would have said put her to sleep, but as it is, we knew she was very talented, sane and my husband loved riding her, so really it was no choice.
She will be box rested for a while, then walked out in hand, then padock rested, it's going to be at least three months before she can be ridden again i expect, and the prognosis is still up in the air, if the infection returns it will be bad news.

She's lost some condition which you would expect after two ops and being away from home.

We found a handy field instead of the arena as ours is quite a walk away, and they allowed us to use headcollars as the mares aren't used to bridles.

Saffron

Couldn't take a decent pic as her foal was attempting to jump the door, so this was the only one I got. She graded onto the foundation book.

Jenny

She was the best mare and graded onto the Main stud book.

Judy

Funnily enough we think she breeds the best stock but they liked her the least!
She graded onto the foundation stud book.

Harmony

They liked her a lot, and graded her onto the foundation stud book, but said had we had the breeding of her dam she would have gone on the main stud book.

Narramore Rock 'n Roll

This super chap is now called Storm at home and is owned by a would be farrier, so he's fantastic at picking up his feet! (our own farrier said he was the best behaved yearling he'd ever met).
He is by Harper's Bornival ex Harmony, and is huge already but nice and compact too.
The bottom pic makes me smile as he looks so like his sire in his expression.
